Bundesliga 2 - New HSV boss Kuntz sure: this time promotion will work out
The new HSV board chairman Stefan Kuntz is confident that this time we will make it to the Bundesliga. "I believe we will make it this year as well", said the former national player, who has been in charge at the second division team from Hamburg since the end of May.
"We should either be in first, second or third place by the 30th matchday or still have a chance to reach those positions", said Kuntz in an RTL/ntv interview, which will be broadcast tonight at 00:25 am in a Nachtjournal-Special. "The pressure is extremely high. You can feel that everything on the pitch at that moment depends on it, and of course it would be natural for me to find it lovely if we were in reach or in first, second or third place by the 30th matchday."
"No unnecessary trainer discussion"
HSV's seventh attempt to return to the Bundesliga starts against relegated 1. FC Cologne. The traditional duel takes place on August 2 (8:30 pm/Sat.1 and Sky). For HSV coach Steffen Baumgart, it will be a reunion with his last club - he was on the brink of failure in Hamburg.
"First and foremost, it was important to me that we avoid any unnecessary trainer discussion here, but Steffen Baumgart has our full trust", said Kuntz. As one of his first official acts, he publicly expressed his support for the coach, who is not without controversy.
