Netanyahu: War will continue after ceasefire
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the fighting in the Gaza Strip will continue after a possible ceasefire.
The war will continue even after the implementation of an agreement with Hamas "until we have achieved all our goals", Netanyahu said on Tuesday evening before a cabinet vote on a draft deal. Israel's goals included the elimination of Hamas and the return of all hostages. In addition, there should no longer be a threat to Israel in Gaza.
According to media reports, the draft agreement with Hamas provides for a four-day ceasefire and an exchange of 50 Hamas hostages for at least 140 prisoners in Israel. Both sides are concerned with the release of women and minors. Hamas had previously announced that it had already given its consent to the mediators in Egypt and Qatar.
Despite the proposed four-day ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement with Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly believes that the conflicts in Gaza will persist post-ceasefire until Israel achieves its objectives, which include dismantling Hamas and securing the safe return of all hostages, ensuring no threat to Israel remains in Gaza.
