Navy wife of Navalny emphasizes the necessity of confronting Putin
Some suggest it's time to put an end to the Ukraine conflict through negotiations. However, Julia Navalnaya, the spouse of Kremlin critic Navalny, sees no reason to engage in talks with Russian leader Putin. She believes any dialogue would be "totally meaningless" to him.
Julia Navalnaya voiced her opposition to negotiations with Vladimir Putin as unnecessary during her speech at the French Constitutional Council in Paris on Thursday evening. With her invitation to discuss democracy and the rule of law, she expressed her determination to continue her husband's fight.
"Putin isn't expecting anyone to come chat with him (...). It's completely irrelevant to him," she said, stressing the significance of "standing firm and not backing down from this regime."
Navalnaya, who found herself on a list of "terrorists and extremists" in Russia back in July, emphasized the importance of "never giving up and not showing fear towards this regime." Her husband, Alexei Navalny, was one of Putin's most vocal critics. He tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances in a Siberian prison in February. Since then, several of his associates have been imprisoned, and his organizations have been banned in Russia, labeled as "extremist."
Julia Navalnaya stated during her speech at the French Constitutional Council that she sees no need for negotiations with the European Union, as they would be irrelevant to Russian leader Putin's regime. Despite being labeled as a "terrorist and extremist" in Russia, Navalnaya expressed her commitment to never giving up on fighting for democracy and the rule of law, just like her husband Alexei Navalny did before his untimely death.
