German Armed Forces - Navy takes part in world's largest naval maneuver
Two German naval ships are participating in the world's largest maritime maneuver. The frigate "Baden-Württemberg" and the supply ship "Frankfurt am Main" are part of the RIMPAC named operation in the Indopacific near Hawaii, as the Bundeswehr announced. The marine maneuver Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) reportedly lasts until August 1st.
Approximately 25,000 soldiers and soldiers from 29 nations with 40 ships, three submarines, and over 150 aircraft and helicopters are training for emergency situations. RIMPAC has been taking place every two years under the leadership of the USA since 1971 and is considered the largest of its kind worldwide. Topics include submarine or mine hunting, missile defense, or combat exercises.
According to the Bundeswehr, the F125 class frigate is one of the most modern in the navy. The Berlin-class supply ship belongs to the largest German military ships. They set sail from Rota, Spain, and Wilhelmshaven, Germany, on May 7th. In addition to the exercise, the fleet has other tasks in the Indo-Pacific region, which stretches from the east coast of Africa to the west coast of America. According to the Bundeswehr, the two ships will monitor United Nations sanctions against North Korea on behalf of the European Union in the northwestern Indian Ocean.
