An 84-year-old bicyclist was severely injured in a collision with a car. The police have a suspicion regarding the cause of the accident.

A 84-year-old bicyclist was hit by a car in Naunhof, Leipzig district, and seriously injured. The bicyclist was on Long Street on a Monday around midday, turning left into Zwirnereistraße when, according to initial police findings, he failed to notice an oncoming car.

The 79-year-old car driver could not brake in time, it was further reported, leading to a collision. The bicyclist sustained severe injuries and was eventually taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Traffic Accident Investigation Team has now taken over the investigation due to the danger to road traffic.

In the same Leipzig District, there have been an alarming number of traffic accidents recently, highlighting theneed for improved road safety measures. This particular incident on Long Street in Naunhof involved an elderly bicyclist and a car, resulting in serious injuries. After the collision, automatic emergency services were activated to ensure prompt assistance. Despite the efforts of the police and medical personnel, the bicyclist had to be transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
