"How fortunate we and the whole free world are that this generation of men and women from Britain and other countries did not flinch when it came to this test," said Charles III.

Nations should stand up against tyranny, as stated by Charles III.

In the year of 1944, a significant event known as D-Day occurred, marking a day of remembrance and warnings. Currently, the Russian invasion in Ukraine rekindles the flame of war once again in Europe. During a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, King Charles III made it abundantly clear that nations must unite in the face of oppression and tyranny.

Side by side with his wife Camilla, King Charles III paid tribute at Ver-sur-Mer to the Allied soldiers who fought valiantly. Donning uniform, he recounted the lessons from history: nations must unite to ward off tyranny and oppression.

The King recalled the immense bravery of the past generations, saying, "What a fortunate world we live in that this generation of British and other countries rose to the challenge." He acknowledged the dwindling number of veterans, reminding us of our duty to preserve their experiences. "We are indebted to their sacrifices for us," he said.

The Prince of Wales, Prince William, and his family were also present at the event, joining the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the French President Emmanuel Macron. Together, they honored the fallen soldiers.

Macron arrived late to the first of the three national commemorations in Normandy, where fallen soldiers were honored. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pointed toward the people who still threaten democracy today - Russia under the leadership of Vladimir Putin.

In Courseulles-sur-Mer, Trudeau addressed the commemoration ceremony for the fallen Canadian soldiers, emphasizing the need to pass on the principles for which they fought: freedom, democracy, and justice. In the afternoon, the American commemoration ceremony will commence in the presence of President Joe Biden and Macron. Prior to the event, Biden and his wife greeted the veterans.

Despite the ongoing Ukraine war overshadowing the events, the central commemoration ceremony is set to begin at 3:30 pm at the site of the landings of the American soldiers - Omaha Beach. The presence of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is also expected.

The Normandy landings, carried out on June 6, 1944, paved the way for the Allies to defeat Nazi Germany. The troops, numbering over 156,000, landed primarily by ship and through parachutes, paving the way for a new front against the German forces. The military operation cost the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers.

The three-day long commemorations were an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made and highlight the importance of these values in a world still grappling with the threat posed by aggressive nations.
