According to a Bloomberg report, citing insiders, billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk donated money to a group that is supporting former US President Donald Trump in the ongoing US presidential campaign. The exact amount Musk donated to the "America PAC" was not disclosed in the report, but it was described as "substantial."
Political Action Committees (PACs) can collect unlimited funds for political activities but are not controlled by the candidates in the campaign. The "America PAC" is required to disclose its donor list on July 15, according to Bloomberg. Musk and Trump's campaign team declined to comment on the report.
Until now, Musk had not publicly endorsed either candidate. He had criticized the immigration policy of US President Joe Biden harshly. After a meeting with Trump in March, during which discussions about potential donations were reportedly held, Musk wrote on X: "To be clear, I will not be supporting either candidate."
However, the Wall Street Journal reported recently that the once frosty relationship between Musk and Trump had improved.
