Musk denies large campaign donations to Trump

Does Elon Musk Make a U-turn? Shortly after the attempted attack, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expresses his full support for Donald Trump's US election. According to reports, this involves large monthly financial injections. "That's not true", he now says in an interview.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk denies reports of massive monthly million-dollar donations to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. "What was reported in the media is not true", Musk explained in an interview conducted on his short-message platform X. "I don't donate 45 million dollars per month to Trump."

The "Wall Street Journal" had reported last week that Musk would start donating 45 million dollars per month to a new fund that supports Trump in the presidential election. Musk's donations were supposed to go to a political group called America PAC, according to the report. Previously, Musk had officially announced his support for Trump's re-election bid: "I fully support President Trump and hope he recovers quickly", Musk wrote on X, after Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign rally.

The "Wall Street Journal" has not yet commented on Musk's denial or corrected its reporting. Trump himself mentioned the large donations from Musk at another campaign event and praised him as "smart people of America helping and Elon is so smart, he's as smart as you can be".

"I don't believe in a personality cult"

Musk confirms in the interview that he indeed founded the America PAC. However, the Austin-based spending group should not be a "partisan organization", according to the Tesla CEO. Individual campaign contributions in the US are limited to $3,300 per person. However, large donors can donate money to so-called Political Action Committees (PACs), which can donate unlimited amounts to candidates and specific causes.

Furthermore, Musk assures in the interview that he is not a MAGA follower. His principles would only align with "MAG": Make America Greater, says the billionaire. "I don't believe in a personality cult." MAGA is the campaign slogan of Trump and stands for "Make America Great Again".

Musk is worth an estimated fortune of around 250 billion dollars and is currently the richest man in the world. Recently, Musk and Trump have politically drawn closer. In March, they met at a fundraiser at Nelson Peltz's residence in Florida.

In response to reports of significant monthly donations to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, Elon Musk clarifies during an interview on his platform X, stating, "What was reported in the media is not true." Despite the Austin-based America PAC being founded by Musk, he emphasizes that it should not be classified as a partisan organization.
