Musk denies large campaign donations to Trump
Does Elon Musk Make a U-turn? Shortly after the attempted attack, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expresses his full support for Donald Trump's US election. According to reports, this involves large monthly financial injections. "That's simply not true", he now says in an Interview. "I don't spend $45 million per month on Trump."**
Tesla CEO Elon Musk denies reports of massive monthly donations totaling $45 million to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. "What was reported in the media is not true", Musk explained in an Interview conducted on his short message platform X. "I don't give $45 million per month to Trump."
The "Wall Street Journal" reported last week that Musk would start donating $45 million per month to a new fund supporting Trump's presidential campaign. The donations were to go to a political group called America PAC, according to the report. Prior to this, Musk had publicly announced his support for Trump's re-election bid: "I fully support President Trump and hope he recovers quickly", Musk wrote on X, after Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign rally.
The "Wall Street Journal" has not yet commented on Musk's denial or corrected its reporting. Trump himself mentioned the large donations from Musk at another campaign event and praised Musk as "smart people of America" and "so smart, he's one of them".
"I don't believe in a personality cult"
Musk confirms in the interview that he did indeed found the America PAC. However, the Austin-based fundraising group should not be a partisan organization, Musk stated. Individual campaign contributions in the US are limited to $3,300 per person. Large donors can, however, donate unlimited amounts to so-called Political Action Committees (PACs) that can contribute unlimited funds to candidates and specific causes.
Furthermore, Musk assured in the interview that he was not a MAGA follower. His principles would only align with "MAG": Make America Greater, the billionaire explained. "I don't believe in a personality cult." MAGA is Trump's campaign slogan and stands for "Make America Great Again".
Musk is worth an estimated $250 billion and is currently the richest man in the world. Recently, Musk and Trump have grown closer politically. In March, they met for a fundraiser at Nelson Peltz's residence in Florida.
In response to media reports, Elon Musk has denied providing $45 million per month to support Donald Trump's campaign for the United States Presidency Election 2024. Despite his support for Trump's re-election bid, Musk clarified that he does not endorse a personality cult and his principles align with the MAG ideology, which stands for Making America Greater.
