Musk allegedly remotely deactivated Kadyrow's cybertruck.
A while ago, Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, publicly flaunted his ownership of a Cybertruck in Grozny. But now, it appears their relationship has hit a snag. On Telegram, Kadyrov grumbles that the vehicle has been disabled. Kadyrov is now leveling accusations at Tesla CEO, Elon Musk.
Kadyrov has accused Musk of secretly disabling a Tesla Cybertruck, which he allegedly received from Musk in August. According to Kadyrov, Musk "recently disabled" the Cybertruck remotely.
Kadyrov's frustration was evident in his post, stating, "Elon Musk, this isn't right. You give expensive gifts, then disable them remotely? How can you do this, Elon? Is this your style?" He further described it as "unmanly."
In August, Kadyrov had shared a video of him driving around Grozny in the Cybertruck, a futuristic pickup truck from US electric car manufacturer, Tesla. The vehicle was distinctively adorned with a mounted machine gun on the roof.
Thanking Musk for the gift, Kadyrov expressed his admiration for the tech billionaire, calling him "the greatest genius of our time," a "specialist," and a "great man." He then invited Musk to visit him in Russia. Kadyrov later revealed that the Cybertruck had been used in combat in Ukraine and had performed remarkably well.
Musk, however, denies ever gifting Kadyrov a Cybertruck, dismissing the claim as a "lie" in an interview. Kadyrov, who has ruled Chechnya with an iron fist for over 17 years, is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin and has sent troops to support Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Tesla unveiled a prototype of the Cybertruck in 2019, and it began production last year.
Despite being a member of the Russian Federation, Kadyrov's relationship with Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems to be strained, with accusations of a remotely disabled Cybertruck. Kadyrov had publicly displayed the Tesla Cybertruck in Grozny earlier, expressing his admiration for Musk.
