Murderer of sister in Bremen faces life sentence.
It took the judge over an hour to announce his decision in a recent case. A 24-year-old man from Bremen was convicted of murdering his sister. According to a representative of the court, there was enough evidence to show that the defendant violently attacked his sister using a kitchen knife due to his disapproval of her lifestyle. The prosecutors were satisfied with the verdict.
The motive behind the murder was judged as being of low quality by the court's representative. The presiding judge, during his lengthy oral verdict, referred to the crime as a "femicide" and a type of killing committed by the accused.
This horrific event occurred in the victim's Bremen apartment back in December of the previous year. The indictment claimed the defendant so brutally killed his sister because he thought her way of life did not meet his cultural standards. In his own mind, he felt he needed to restore his honor in this manner.
The letters discovered in the defendant's home following the crime held significant weight in the trial. These documents, read out in court, showed the defendant expressing his disdain for his sister, labeling her as a "slut." He believed he had to kill her to preserve his honor.
