Munich Pride Organization Stands Against Conservative Right Factions
At the Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Munich, LGBTQ+ individuals rejoiced and advocated for their rights during a political parade on a Saturday. The event, with the theme "Unity Through Diversity - Standing Against the Right," stretched over 4 kilometers, winding along the Isar and around the Old Town. Approximately 200 groups, including numerous vehicles with music, participated in the procession, although the number of attendees was slightly lower than the 400,000 of the previous year, according to a police representative.
The overall atmosphere was positive, and no incidents were reported, said a CSD representative. Munich's Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) served as the event's patron, hosting a Pride Party at the town hall with performers from the Techno-, House-, and Hiphop-genres. Along with the main stage on Marienplatz, there were also street festivals, informational booths, music, and activities scattered throughout the city center.
