Multiple fatalities occurred due to floods and landslides in northern Vietnam.

Up north in Vietnam, three individuals have lost their lives to floods and debris slides. As announced on Voice of Vietnam, the victims were possibly caught in the currents of the floods or buried under the debris.

The province of Ha Giang has experienced heavy rainfall, causing thousands of homes to be engulfed in water, according to official sources. People in Ha Giang's capital were seen stranded on roofs, awaiting rescue. The torrents of water transformed streets into raging streams and swept away automobiles.

Since Saturday, Ha Giang has received persistent rain, causing the Lo River to overflow, resulting in floods and landslides, according to the local authorities. Three locations along the China border remained inaccessible due to landslides. During the weekend, floodwaters had already swamped Hai Phong's port city and Quang Ninh province, where Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is situated.

Vietnam frequently experiences storms throughout the rainy season from June to November. Last year claimed 169 lives due to storms within the South-East Asian nation. Scientists claim that climate change prompts weather events such as floods to occur more often and intensely.
