Swimming emergency - Multiple fatalities from swimming accidents over the weekend

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a 62-year-old man was discovered lifeless in the Neustädter See near Neustadt-Glewe by a lifeguard. A police spokeswoman stated, "The lifeguard found the man floating in the water and immediately brought him to shore. He was resuscitation attempts were initiated by the lifeguard and a passing doctor, but they were unsuccessful."
In Rostock, passersby found a woman, 27, floating lifelessly in the water at the Stadthafen near the ferry terminal. A police spokesman reported, "The woman, who was wearing a bikini, could only be retrieved from the water dead by the alerted rescue services." Preliminary findings indicated that there was no sign of a violent death, the spokesman added.
In Hildesheim, an 84-year-old man drowned while operating a remotely controlled model boat on the Hohensee. According to the police, the boat had likely become entangled in water plants, causing the man to go into the water and drown. Divers retrieved him 50 minutes later - dead.
DLRG lifeguards rescue 17-year-old using drone
The German Life-Saving Association (DLRG) rescued a 17-year-old girl from the Graal Müritz Sea. A spokesperson for the rescue service stated, "The girl from the region had gone swimming with her friend after sunset and was reported missing by her companion. The young woman was spotted approximately 100 meters from the shore by a thermal imaging camera-equipped drone."
A lifeguard then brought the girl safely to land.
Swimming accidents in Bavaria and Brandenburg
An 85-year-old man drowned while swimming in Mittelfranken, Bavaria. According to the police, the man suffered a coughing fit and accidentally went underwater in the nearby Baggersee near Happurg. His 68-year-old companion attempted to hold him but was unable to prevent him from drowning.
In Brandenburg, an 84-year-old woman drowned while swimming alone in the Kuhpanzsee in the Böhmerheide district. The police reported, "The woman from Berlin had been swimming alone in the lake on Saturday and was found lifeless in the water a few minutes later by her relatives." The resuscitation attempts by her relatives and the arriving rescue services were unsuccessful.
Children in distress in the water
A four-year-old boy was rescued from a pond in Brandenburg, Woltersdorf. The police reported on Sunday that the boy had been swimming with several other children during a birthday party in the pond. The other children noticed that the boy was in the water and alerted the adults.
A six-year-old girl playing in the water at Berlin's Tegeler See was rescued by a lifeguard. The German Life-Saving Association (DLRG) reported, "The girl had been playing in a swimming ring in the water and slipped under the surface. The lifeguard on duty immediately jumped into the water and rescued her from the water."
The girl was not a swimmer. Her father had not been paying attention to her during the dangerous incident.
