Multiple fatalities and numerous injuries reported in Turkey due to forest fires.
At woodland blazes in the Kurdish southeast of Turkey, as per official reports, at least five individuals have perished. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca declared on day X that 44 people sustained injuries, among which ten were in critical condition, as the flames rampaged through multiple villages near Mardin city. Numerous rescue units and ambulances were dispatched to the area.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya posted separately that the flames originated late on Thursday in a region 30 kilometers south of Diyarbakir city and rapidly spread due to powerful gusts, engulfing five nearby villages. "Regrettably, three inhabitants of the Diyarbakir region and two of the Mardin region expired," he penned on day X.
Photos on digital platforms depicted a colossal fire casting an eerie glow across the night sky and thick plumes of smoke.
