Animals - Mourning in the Bear Forest - Brown Bear Dushi dead
The employees of Bear Forest Müritz took leave of the Brown Bear Dushi. Dushi, who already lacked one front paw, suffered another injury to a hind leg in an accident, according to Bear Forest. The resulting fracture of the femur was so severe that they reached an agreement with a veterinarian to put her out of her misery.
Dushi was 15 years old. A spokesperson for Bear Forest announced that her cohabitant Ben had died just a week earlier. The bear had lived in the protection center in Stuer (Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte) for the past five years. The animal was rescued by Four Paws from terrible keeping conditions in an Albanian Safari Park.
Dushi's time at Müritz, a renowned bear sanctuary in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, was marked by both challenges and triumphs. Despite reaching a level of age and health issues, Dushi's tale is a poignant reminder of the touching story of resilience and rescue from the Tod that awaited her in her previous home.
