Arrest in Saxony - Mother injures child seriously - Flight with brother

A Woman is suspected of injuring her four-year-old child at a youth facility in Bopfingen (Ostalbkreis) with a knife during visitation hours. In addition, a shot from a weapon was fired, according to the prosecution and police.

Initially, it was reported from the police side that the woman was wanted for a knife attack. The 33-year-old woman had fled with her 13-year-old son in a car after the incident on a Thursday. Through a mobile phone location, the police discovered that the woman was driving towards Saxony.

Messer and Shock Gun in the Car

The intervention teams of the Saxon and Bavarian Police managed to stop the car in the early evening on the A72 motorway at the junction Zwickau-Ost. The woman had carried several weapons with her, including a knife and a shock gun.

It is currently assumed that these weapons were also used in the incident at the Youth Facility, according to a police spokesperson. The co-traveling son was able to be rescued unharmed from the car and handed over to the care of the local youth welfare office.

Four-year-old Child in Stable Condition

The four-year-old child, whose gender the police did not want to disclose, was already flown to a clinic in the afternoon with a rescue helicopter, where it was medically treated. It currently finds itself in a stable condition.

The investigations of the Public Prosecutor's Office Ellwangen and the Criminal Police Aalen into the background of the incident are ongoing.

  4. The 33-year-old woman, from Baden-Württemberg, is suspected of injuring her four-year-old child with a knife at the youth facility in Ostalbkreis.
  5. According to a police spokesperson, the weapons found in the car were likely used in the incident at the youth facility.
  6. The Public Prosecutor's Office will handle the case of criminality associated with the incident, as it involves a mother from Baden-Württemberg who was arrested in Saxony.
