Most trains from Paris to Germany on Saturdays, regular
After the attacks on the French rail network, trains on the Eastern route towards Strasbourg and further to Germany will run regularly on Saturday. The SNCF announced this in the evening. This means normal traffic for trains between Paris and Frankfurt/Main and Stuttgart as well.
On the line heading north, where trains to Cologne, Brussels and London run, 80% of scheduled trains will resume operation from Saturday, but with a delay of one to two hours. This is due to the fact that the high-speed line is not yet fully operational.
Two out of three trains in the southwestern and Bretagne direction will run on Saturday, also with a delay of one to two hours. For Sunday, further disruptions are expected on the northern line, while improvements are expected for the return journey towards the southwest.
The SNCF assured that transportation for all teams and accredited persons for the Olympics will be ensured. The rail attacks on critical points of the French high-speed network disrupted rail traffic just before the start of the Olympics. The perpetrators of the attacks are still unknown.
The SNCF is intensifying its monitoring measures. Around 1,000 maintenance staff have been mobilized for inspections. In addition, approximately 40 teams of railway security and approximately 50 drones are monitoring the network.
Despite the enhanced surveillance measures implemented by the SNCF, some disruptions are still expected on Paris-bound trains on Sunday. Germany, being a regular destination via the Eastern route, will continue to have regular train services from Saturday, boosting connectivity between the two cities. Despite the attacks, most of the trains heading towards Frankfurt/Main and Stuttgart will operate as usual on Saturdays.
