Moscow: Six-year-old killed in drone attack
In the night, Ukraine, according to the Kremlin, launched a large-scale attack on regions in Southern Russia. A residential house was reportedly hit, located near a Russian airforce base. A girl did not survive a drone attack.
According to official statements, a child has died in Ukrainian drone attacks on targets in Southern Russia. A six-year-old girl reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained during a drone attack on the city of Primorsko-Achtarsk, as Governor Wenjamin Kondratyev wrote on Telegram. Five other people were injured.
According to the governor, a three-story residential building was heavily damaged by the debris of a downed drone. Primorsko-Achtarsk has an airforce base from which Russian drones regularly take off towards Ukraine.
In the small coastal town, there were reports in the media that an power station was hit. Shared videos on social media are said to show the moment of the explosion. The neighboring region Rostov-on-Don was also affected. Governor Vasili Golubev wrote that the air defense had intercepted all drones, resulting in only scattered "fires in the landscape."
Moscow reports interception of dozens of drones
The independent portal Astra reported that an oil refinery in the area had been hit. The extent of the damages is unknown. In the neighboring region of Kursk, according to the statements of Governor Alexei Smirnov, damages were reported at a music school and several shops in a village following a drone attack.
The Defense Ministry in Moscow reported the interception of 14 drones over the Krasnodar region, 10 drones over the Rostov region, and 26 drones over the annexed part of the Ukrainian territory of Zaporizhzhia. The military traditionally made no statements about damages.
Since Russia began its offensive war against Ukraine more than two years ago, it has regularly shelled civilian objects in the Ukrainian hinterland. However, the border regions in Russia are also complaining about increasing shelling from the Ukrainian side. The number of casualties and the extent of damages do not correspond to the destruction caused by Russia.
