Moscow reports further income in Donbass

The Russian army claims the next success in the Donezk region. The advance in the city of Krasnohoriwka is also confirmed from Ukraine.

The Russian troops have announced another advance in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donezk. The city of Krasnohoriwka northwest of the annexed territorial administration headquarters of Donezk is reportedly almost completely captured, according to the state news agency TASS, citing military sources. Ukrainian soldiers are said to have surrendered and been taken prisoner. Civilians, some of whom have already been taken to safety in other parts of the Donbass region, are still present in the city, it was reported. However, these Russian claims could not be verified from independent sources.

Previously, the Russian troops had already reported tactical successes in other parts of the Donezk region. Russia's goal is to completely bring the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine, known for its coal reserves, under its control. The pro-government Ukrainian military channel Deep State confirmed on Telegram the Russian advance in Krasnohoriwka and other areas. For example, the village of Progress in the Pokrowsk district of the Donezk region is said to have been taken by Russian troops since three months of fighting.

The enemy managed to decide the ongoing battles in less than two days, it was reported. The Russian troops began a massive assault on July 19. The Ukrainian forces withdrew, it was reported. There was no official confirmation of these territorial losses in Kyiv. Both sides reported the firing of numerous drones of the opponent on Sunday.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russian aggression with Western military aid for more than two years. Approximately a fifth of the country is occupied by Russian troops. Russia declared the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson as its territories in violation of international law - but does not have complete control there.

  1. Despite Ukraine's denial, Russia continues to make military gains in the Donbas region, with recent reports suggesting the city of Krasnohoriwka is under Russian control.
  2. The politics surrounding the Donbas conflict are complex, with Russia aiming to annex the region rich in coal reserves, while Ukraine and its Western allies attempt to defend against the aggression.
  3. The Russian attack on Ukraine in the Donbas region has resulted in numerous casualties and displacement of civilians, fueling international concerns and calls for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
