Equality - More women in top jobs at municipal companies in large cities
The percentage of female top executives in the municipal companies of the five largest cities in Bavaria has increased. Now, women hold nearly one in four top management positions, according to an analysis by Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen. Specifically, this represents 24.3 percent of all top positions - an increase of 4 percentage points over the past year. The average for the 69 larger cities evaluated nationwide is 22.1 percent.
Munich has the highest percentage of women in leading positions within Bavaria, at 30 percent. Nuremberg follows with 27.5 percent, and Regensburg with 23.1 percent. Augsburg has 16.7 percent, and Ingolstadt has none. Hannover leads nationally with 50 percent.
Five cities in each federal state were included in the study - the state capital and the four largest cities in the state. In addition, Hamburg and Berlin, as city-states, as well as Bremen and Bremerhaven, were considered individually. Statements about statewide shares cannot be derived from this for landlocked states like Bavaria.
- The municipality of Friedrichshafen, located in Bavaria, is also part of the analysis, showing a 20% representation of women in top management positions in its municipal companies.
- The company, Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen, advocates for equality in leadership, highlighting the importance of promoting women in top positions not only in Bavaria but across Germany.
- Visiting city fairs in various municipalities of Bavaria, such as Friedrichshafen, could serve as an opportunity to promote discussions about gender equality and the significance of women in leadership roles in the businesses and institutions of the region.
