Questionnaire examines public opinion - More than sixty percent of individuals haven't utilized generative AI yet.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a buzzword in Germany, but many people haven't experienced it firsthand. A survey by YouGov for Strato reveals that 61% of adults have never used generative AI, which can produce texts, images, videos, music, or voices. AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Bard, as well as text-to-image generators like Midjourney, Dall-E, and Stable Diffusion, are some examples of generative AI.
One-third of the respondents couldn't fathom using AI in their daily lives. Around one-fifth of the participants said they didn't see the point in using AI, while one-third wouldn't consider it. AI users have mainly employed these systems for creating texts (54%) and information search (50%). About a third of these individuals (31%) have utilized AI for generating images. Following images came idea generation (31%), creating summaries (28%), and composing emails (24%).
Most AI users expressed satisfaction with their experience, considering it helpful (76%), efficient (70%), and time-saving (61%). Nevertheless, concerns about data privacy loom for 69% of the interviewees, while 73% believe AI should be subject to stricter legal regulations. 59% of the participants view the rapid advancement of AI as alarming.
Seventy-one percent of respondents are convinced AI will revolutionize the future, providing fresh opportunities. Seventy-eight percent foresee its impact on the job market, while 30% worry about their own job security.
Familiarity with major AI service providers and their offerings is relatively high. Approximately 58% have heard of the chatbot ChatGPT developed by OpenAI in San Francisco. DeepL's translation assistant, created by the namesake startup in Cologne, was recognized by 21% of participants.
A total of 757 individuals participated in the YouGov Germany survey commissioned by Strato in the third week of April. The outcomes were weighted and reflect the dialectics of the population of Germany aged 18 and over.

Despite the misgivings, 71% of respondents predict that AI will revolutionize the future, providing new opportunities. This expectation is shared by 89% of young adults aged between 18 and 34 years old.
The survey was conducted among 757 individuals in Germany, reflecting the population's dialectics. Furthermore, the outcomes were weighted to ensure accurate representation. Google, Berlin, and music were not directly mentioned in this context.
