Urban development - Millions of euros for projects in Helmstedt and Bremen
The Kramers Estate in Helmstedt, a heritage-listed farm complex from the 17th century, is particularly supported by the Federal Government with four million Euros from Berlin. The former agricultural estate in the city center is to be developed into a cultural encounter and youth education site in the former border area. The project is intended to have an impact on the entire city, as stated in a press release from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
Approximately 50 million Euros will be distributed nationwide this year for 17 projects in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law. "These places were specifically chosen because of their connection to democracy education and remembrance," said Federal Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD).
According to ministry information, the town hall of Bremen-Blumenthal is also among the "National Urban Development Projects" and will receive six million Euros in federal funds to develop the heritage-listed town hall into a site for democracy promotion and the common good. At the same time, it could also take on a pivot function for the new city hall quarter.
