According to Saar-Economics Minister Barke, hydrogen is one of the essential key technologies to decarbonize energy production. There are grant approvals in Berlin for its implementation.

Two Saarland water projects have received grants of a total of 146 million Euro. The grant notices were handed out in Berlin by Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens), according to the Saarbrücken Economic Ministry. Of this amount, 102 million Euro come from the federal budget and 44 million Euro from state funds.

Saar-Economics Minister Jürgen Barke (SPD) spoke of a "good day" for the location. "We are getting closer to our goal of being able to produce large quantities of climate-neutral hydrogen in Saarland and transport it to the consumers," he said. The two projects are considered an important contribution to a hydrogen economy on the Saar.
