- Military personnel facing trial for four instances of homicide.

After a string of grisly killings in Rotenburg's Lower Saxony district, a soldier's trial commenced. As per a court representative, the accused used his military background as a paratrooper in Germany's army to commit these heinous crimes, during the pre-trial proceedings at Verden Regional Court. The 32-year-old is accused of murdering four individuals connected to his separated wife's significant other.

The trial's opening day will solely involve the reading of the indictment. According to the charging document, the suspected culprit carried out a domicile-to-domicile warfare-style operation on February 28th, fuelled by hate and revenge. He allegedly breached the victims' homes. In Scheeßel, it's claimed that the German defendant shot the 30-year-old new lover of his former lover and her 55-year-old mother.

Following this incident, the soldier supposedly shot the 33-year-old best friend of his still-married wife and her three-year-old daughter in Bothel. The prosecution views these as a single incident since both were fatally wounded by a single bullet. As per the court, the defendant confessed to the acts beforehand but claimed that he hadn't noticed the little girl held in her mother's arms.

The charging document accuses the soldier of murdering four individuals. In the court's statement, the defendant admitted to committing the murders.
