Military of Israel: Recently discovered hostage remains display gunshot injuries
Israel's military recently retrieved six hostages from the Gaza Strip, sporting gunshot injuries, as per their statement. In contrast, the bodies of four individuals found nearby, presumed to have been their captors, showed no such marks. However, the army declined to comment on the hostages' cause of death or the underlying circumstances.
Initially, certain Israeli news sources suggested that the hostages may have been killed, with some bodies reportedly harboring bullet fragments. This depiction was refuted by the military as unwarranted. The six lifeless bodies were identified during a nocturnal search in Khan Yunis, a city in the Gaza Strip's southern coastal region, on Tuesday.
As of now, Hamas is holding 109 hostages. Out of this number, 36 have been declared deceased, while 73 remain alive, according to a representative from the Israeli government. On October 7, last year, Palestinian militants abducted over 250 individuals from Israel and transported them to the coastal region.
Despite the initial speculations about the hostages' deaths, further investigation revealed that the hostage bodies did not contain bullet fragments, contradicting some reports. The international Red Cross is now urgently advocating for the safe release of the remaining 73 hostages in Gaza.
