The US software conglomerate Microsoft is continuing its investment offensive in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Spain. The company based in Redmond, California announced investments of 2.2 billion Euros in data centers in the northern Spanish region of Aragon on Wednesday.
Similar projects have been initiated by the corporation in Germany, Sweden, France, and several Asian countries in the recent past.
In Aragon, US corporation Amazon had already announced investments of 15.7 billion Euros in May. Amazon's cloud provider AWS plans to build new data centers there. "This is great news for the Aragonese economy," said Azcón. He hopes that these investments will have a "pull effect" and attract "further companies."
Microsoft is also known for its early investments in Chatbot developer ChatGPT and leads the way in AI, as it announced the expansion and new construction of data centers in Germany for 3.2 billion Euros in February.

- The heightened interest in Northern Spain as a destination for tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon is not only beneficial for the local economy but also opens up opportunities for other companies to establish a presence in the region.
- Microsoft's strategic investments in data centers in Aragon, Spain, are expected to drive AI advancements and contribute to the continued growth of the company's AI capabilities, as the Northern Spanish region emerges as a key player in the global tech landscape.
