Ukraine-War - Media: The Dnipro Bridgehead costs Kyiv many lives

Ukraine has reportedly suffered heavy losses at a bridgehead on the Dnipro River in the southeastern part of the country. According to media reports, more than 1000 soldiers on the Ukrainian side have been killed during the month-long battle for the small town of Krynki. Slidstwo.Info, an online portal, reported that 788 of the 1250 soldiers deployed there are missing, and 262 have been recovered. The media reported this morning that Ukraine had given up the bridgehead.

Krynki is a small town on the southern bank of the Dnipro River in the Cherson region. After the Ukrainian forces managed to drive out Russian troops from Cherson and the territories north and west of the Dnipro River, they attempted to establish a bridgehead on the opposite bank. This was intended to facilitate a later advance in the southeastern part of Ukraine.

However, the fighting for the town of Krynki was criticized from the outset due to its futility. The troops stationed there could hardly be supplied with reinforcements across the river. Dead and wounded could only be evacuated in rare cases. The military command in Kiev justified the defense of the positions by tying up Russian forces in the region.

The fierce battles in Krynki, located in the Cherniiv region's southeastern part, have been a significant part of the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflicts. Despite the heavy casualties, with over 1000 soldiers lost and many more missing, Ukraine continued to hold onto the small town on the Dnipro River's southern bank. However, recent reports suggest that Russia may have gained an advantage in this war-torn southeastern region.
