Mayor of New York City, Adams, is facing accusations of bribery and making illicit campaign contributions.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams has been accused of taking bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign entities. The allegations, outlined in a charging document published on Thursday, claim Adams requested and insisted on bribes from a representative of Turkey. These bribes included complimentary and heavily discounted high-end vacations. The Turkish representative sought Adams' intervention on behalf of the Turkish consulate in Manhattan.
Additionally, the indictment alleges Adams exploited a city initiative offering substantial incentives for small donations, thereby amplifying his earnings. The document suggests that Adams' campaign received an extra $10 million due to false endorsements. Previously, agents from the FBI had confiscated Adams' cell phone.
Despite the escalating allegations against him, NYC Mayor Eric Adams vigorously denied any involvement in the scandal, claiming the new accusations are baseless. In an attempt to mitigate the damage, Adams announced plans to introduce stricter campaign finance laws in the city.
