At the Highfield Festival close to Leipzig, a blaze ignited on the Ferris wheel in the evening hours. The leader of the German Red Cross relayed this information to news agency dpa, stating that numerous individuals were injured, with two suffering severely. Fortunately, no lives were lost.

Two Ferris wheel cabins went up in flames around 9 PM. Reports indicate that they were engulfed in flames, as shared by a dpa correspondent at the scene. People were extracted from the Ferris wheel gradually. The two impacted cabins were completely obliterated.

A spokesperson from the fire department subsequently informed dpa that the situation had been tamed. The police have yet to issue a statement.

Approximately an hour following the blaze, at 10 PM, an update was given on the festival stage. It was announced that the victims were recuperating well. The festival was also scheduled to recommence at 10:30 PM with a performance by Cro.

The festival at Lake Störmthal, a prominent rock and pop event, was momentarily halted after the fire.

The festival at Highfield near Leipzig was temporarily suspended due to the Ferris wheel incident. Despite the disruption, many festivals-goers were eager to attend the concert by Cro once the situation was under control.
