Outdoor pools - Mariendorf summer pool closed for longer due to burst pipe

The Mariendorf outdoor pool is closed due to a pipe rupture for at least two weeks. On Saturday morning, water entered the technical area, and since then, the pool's operation has been halted, a spokesperson for Berlin's Baths Company announced. The swimming season had started there on June 15.

Preliminary findings suggest that this is a fatigue failure of the 50-year-old pipe. It is located six meters deep. "To assess the overall condition of the pipeline and replace it if necessary, extensive excavation work is required," it was further stated. Based on preliminary estimates, this work will take at least two weeks or more. The pool will remain closed until the repairs are completed.

The pool staff will be deployed at other pools during the construction work. In Stadtbad Tempelhof, the swimming hours for the public will be extended this week: The pool is open daily from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm until Friday.

Mariendorf outdoor pool is one of the older outdoor pools in the city. It is about 70 years old, has a 50-meter pool, a diving area, and a large non-swimmer pool. It opened its gates a little later than planned this year - due to tiling work at the swimmer pool.

During the pool's closure, individuals seeking leisure time swimming options in Berlin might consider visiting the extended hours at Stadtbad Tempelhof. With Mari Hendorf's summer pool under maintenance for at least two weeks due to a pipe issue, taking a dip in the refreshing waters of the Stadtbad Tempelhof pool could be an enjoyable alternative for swimmers during their summer break.
