Criminality - Man threatens woman and officials - police fire warning shot

Through a warning shot, the Police were able to stop a 40-year-old man, who was armed with a knife, in the Innenstadt of Velbert. The woman, initially identified as the target due to relationship disputes, had informed the police that she had been insulted and threatened by the man upon their arrival, with a knife in hand.

Subsequently, the man fled. However, the officers were able to catch up to him shortly thereafter and apprehend him. Despite their repeated demands for him to drop the knife, he did not comply. The use of pepper spray did not contribute to subduing the man. One of the officers then discharged a warning shot into the air. In response, the man dropped his knife and was taken into custody with significant resistance. No one was injured during the incident.

The incident took place in the heart of Velbert, located in North Rhine-Westphalia. Ms., the victim of the relationship disputes, had reported criminal threats and insults from the man, who was eventually stopped by the police. The police officer resorted to a warning shot after the man refused to drop his knife, despite repeated demands and the failed use of pepper spray.
