Majority of four companies prefer to maintain remote work setup.

Approximately three out of every four firms that can operate effectively with remote work prefer to maintain this setup, as per a study conducted by the Ifo Institute. Merely four percent are keen on eradicating remote work altogether. The percentage of companies considering stricter regulations or conversely loosening restrictions is fairly equal at eleven and twelve percent.

It's worth noting that around 21 percent of companies do not enable remote work, whereas 79 percent at least provide this option. This tendency is more prevalent in larger companies, industries, and service-based organizations compared to small businesses, retail shops, and construction sectors.

Economists have observed a consistent pattern in the percentage of employees working remotely in Germany over the past two years, averaging around 25 percent. Jean-Victor Alipour from the Ifo Center for Industrial Economics opines that remote work has become an established norm in Germany after the Corona pandemic. Although in-office work has its benefits in certain areas, more efficient coordination of shared presence times could potentially boost productivity in remote work settings.

The study reveals that three out of every four firms favor maintaining remote work, while only a minimal four percent aspire to eliminate it entirely. In contrast, the same study shows that thirteen percent of companies consider implementing stricter regulations or loosening restrictions on remote work.
