Major gathering on Ukraine held in Germany during Biden's visit
Around the middle of October, President Joe Biden of the United States will embark on his inaugural bilateral trip to Germany. During this excursion, he's planning to organize a high-level meeting regarding Ukraine, a nation currently facing adversities from Russia. This meeting, which boasts an attendance list of over 50 countries that back Kyiv in its defense endeavors, aims to align strategies and strengthen unifications, according to the White House's announcement.
Biden's journey to Germany is set for October's midpoint. Conversations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are scheduled to occur in Berlin. Subsequent to this, President Biden intends to head to the US army installation located in Ramstein.
Potential Meeting Venue: Ramstein
Although no formal details regarding the meeting's venue have been disclosed by the White House, sources suggest it may take place in Ramstein. This group, known as the Ramstein format, is often headed by the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and features both the U.S. and Germany as significant arms suppliers for Ukraine.
The prime objectives of Biden's trip encompass aiding Ukraine. This marks the initial bilateral visit by President Biden to Germany throughout his term and is a historic event, as it's been four years since President Barack Obama paid a visit to then-Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin during his farewell tour in November 2016.
Other countries are expected to participate in the Ramstein format meeting, as it holds significance for Ukraine's defense strategies. Biden's meeting in Germany is not limited to discussions with Germany's leaders, as other international partners may join the other session labeled as 'Other'.
