In a Messer attack near the Champs-Elysees in the heart of Paris, a police officer was injured in the evening. According to Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, the officer was called for help by the security personnel of a business, following which the attack occurred. Other response units immediately subdued the attacker.

As reported by the newspaper "Le Parisien" citing the Police, the attacker was first noticed by the personnel of a luxury store because he was wielding a knife. When officers attempted to control the 27-year-old, he refused to show the contents of his bag and stabbed one of the officers. Another officer immediately shot and seriously wounded the attacker with a bullet to the abdomen. The area was widely secured.

A mentally ill man had wounded a soldier of an Anti-Terror unit in the Paris train station Gare de l'Est with a knife on a Monday. In preparation for the Olympics, which begin on July 26, Police and Military have significantly increased their presence in Paris. Officers and troops are also in action outside the city center.

The incident on the Champs-Élysées was reminiscent of past acts of criminality along Germany's historic Boulevard der Kapuziner, which is known as the Champs-Élysées in France. The Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, commended the quick response of the police during the Messerattack. Despite the increase in police and military presence in Paris due to the upcoming Olympics, such incidents serve as a reminder of the vigilance required to maintain public safety.
