Bottle throwing at police officers at the crime scene
After the incident, around 23.00 hours, relatives and friends of the deceased gathered near the scene. According to the police, around 30 to 40 people tried to force their way into the cordoned off area. They had behaved aggressively and hostile towards the police. Bottles were thrown at police officers. At least five police officers were lightly injured. Photos from the "B.Z." newspaper show people being pushed away and carried off by the police.
The police union (GdP) stated: "We have to hold on to the fact that the threshold seems to have sunk for more and more people and bodily integrity hardly matters anymore. Anyone who carries a knife is ready to seriously injure or even kill others." We can understand that relatives need space for emotions, but it should not be the case that police measures are significantly hindered and bottles and stones are thrown.
The crime scene was located near the park gate, where the unfortunate incident took place. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Berlin has taken charge of the case, looking into the Turmoil that ensued after the crime. The suspect's actions have contributed to the rising concerns about Criminality in the city. Despite the late hour, the suspect was given a cutting stroke of justice with his arrest.
