Lufthansa-Group cancels flights to Lebanon

For security reasons, the Lufthansa Group has suspended flights to Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon. The company has cancelled five round-trips up to and including Tuesday (30. July), as reported. Affected are the companies Swiss, as well as Lufthansa and Eurowings, each with two connections.

Following a rocket attack on the Druze village of Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights annexed by Israel on Saturday, which killed at least twelve people, the Israeli government is preparing for a retaliatory strike. They hold Hezbollah responsible for the attack. The Shia militia denied involvement.

The suspension of Lufthansa Group's flights to Lebanon, including those operated by Swiss, Lufthansa, and Eurowings, is due to heightened security reasons. This decision affects several round-trips to Beirut, with cancellations extending till Tuesday (30th July). On a different note, the tensions in the region, specific to the rocket attack in Majdal Shams, have led to preparations for a potential retaliatory strike by the Israeli government, which alleges Hezbollah's responsibility for the incident.
