- Lufthansa annuls additional trips to the Middle Eastern destinations

due to the ongoing volatility in the Middle Eastern region, Lufthansa Group has cancelled additional trips to the affected area. Until and on Monday (26th August), all flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil will be halted, the company declared in Frankfurt. Until then, the airlines within the group will avoid flying above Iraq and Iran. The previous flight restriction was in effect until and including Wednesday (21st August).

The main reason behind this is the escalating tension between Israel and Iran, which has triggered concerns of the conflict spreading beyond the Gaza Strip. Lufthansa is offering complimentary cancellations for tickets up to and including 31st August. This flight prohibition applies to all airlines within the group, including both freight and passenger planes. Besides the primary airline, Lufthansa Group comprises Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.

The Lufthansa Group's decision to avoid flying above Iraq and Iran is due to the unfavorable airspace conditions in these countries. Following the cancellation of flights to several Middle Eastern cities, Lufthansa urges passengers to be aware of potential disruptions in air travel due to the volatile situation in the region.
