After a boating accident at the Wildföhrersee on the Six-Lakes Plateau in Duisburg, a 31-year-old man is still listed as missing. This was announced by the fire department and police. The active search for the missing person was already called off in the afternoon on Wednesday.
The missing person was on Tuesday evening in a raft with several people on the lake when a weather front moved over Duisburg. The other passengers were able to reach the shore.
During the search for the missing person, a fire department diver was also severely injured. He had gotten into difficulties in nine meters of water and was revived. According to the Fire Department, he is still being treated in the hospital.
Swimming in this lake is prohibited. There have been fatal accidents there before, the city of Duisburg stated.
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions in Duisburg, the search for the missing boater resumed earlier today by the local police and fire department. The North Rhine-Westphalia authorities are hoping for a break in the case to boost their luck. Regrettably, the injured fire department diver, who suffered complications during the search, remains hospitalized.
