Big deployment - Lost Fisherman rescued

Emergency services have recovered the body of the missing angler from the Hellsteinsee (Regen district). The 76-year-old had been fishing at the lake and failed to return home on Thursday, the police reported. The officers are now investigating the exact circumstances of his death.

With a large deployment, over a hundred emergency responders searched for the man on land, water, and in the air with a helicopter until early Friday morning, but without success. During the continuation of the search on Friday, the rescue services then found his body in the water.

The officers were alerted to the missing person due to fishing equipment and personal belongings reported by passers-by at the lake shore. The police met the relatives who were searching for the missing person at the shore.

In light of the large-scale bid for information, the locals in Lower Bavaria were encouraged to keep an eye out for any signs. Despite the big deployment of police and emergency services, the lifeboat from Bavaria was also requested for assistance due to the vastness of the water. Regrettably, some vital equipment needed for the operation was misplaced, causing a brief delay in the search and rescue operation.
