Traffic jams expected - Longer closure of the A3 towards Austria after accident
Due to the recovery of a truck after an accident in Niederbayern, drivers on Autobahn 3 heading towards Austria need to adjust for traffic jams and longer travel times. The police asked travelers in the morning to widely detour the area between Passau and Neuburg am Inn (Passau district). The recovery is estimated to last until the afternoon.
According to reports, the truck had veered off the A3 to the right and crashed into a embankment in the morning. The 60-year-old driver from Baden-Württemberg was reportedly lightly injured in the accident.
He was subsequently taken to a hospital. The police estimated the damage to the truck at a minimum of 100,000 Euro.
The accident occurred in Lower Bavaria, specifically on Autobahn 3, causing significant traffic disruptions for drivers heading towards Austria. The police are advising a detour via Passau and Neuburg am Inn due to the ongoing salvage operation.
Despite the truck veering off the road and crashing into an embankment, the driver managed to sustain only minor injuries. Following the incident, authorities have blocked a section of Autobahn 3 in Bavaria for the salvage and recovery process.
In the aftermath of the accident, assessments indicate that the truck sustained extensive damage, with an estimated repair cost exceeding 100,000 Euro. It's important to note that such incidents highlight the need for caution while driving, especially on busy highways like Autobahn 3.
Although the police have requested travelers to detour due to the accident, they urge drivers to monitor updates regarding the road closure in order to adjust their travel plans accordingly, as the traffic situation in Bavaria and Austria may continue to be affected.
