It's about more than 20 tons of preparations and the largest doping smuggling case in Denmark according to the Prosecution: A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for organized trading of doping substances and other substances. Four other suspects aged between 36 and 47 received prison sentences for aiding and abetting, with lengths ranging from four months to three years, as the Amtsgericht in Kolding in Denmark announced.

According to the court statements, among the accomplices there is at least one German. The Danish broadcaster DR reports that the leader of the group is a Danish man living in Flensburg.

The court in Kolding, about 80 kilometers north of Flensburg, found it proven that the 40-year-old had smuggled Doping-, anesthetic- and medicinal substances from abroad to Denmark from early 2022 to mid-2023 in 20 cases. The substances, which reportedly came from Pakistan and India, were stored in a warehouse in Kolding and weighed a total of more than 20 tons including packaging. They were supposed to be distributed from there to customers in several European countries.

Danish investigators came across the substances during several raids in the summer of 2023 in cooperation with the German Customs. The verdict can be appealed within two weeks.
