German Weather Service - Lightning risk in Bavaria increases - Thunderstorms possible

The German Weather Service (DWD) expects parts of Bavaria to have thunderstorms again. Parts of it may also have showers with heavy rain, hail, and strong gusts of wind, according to the DWD.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to be 27 degrees in Allgäu and 32 degrees in Mainfranken and along the Danube, initially sunny. Towards evening, the risk of thunderstorms increases along the Alpine fringe. Locally, heavy rain with amounts up to 40 liters per square meter and hail with diameters up to three centimeters may occur. Severe gusts of wind with up to 90 kilometers per hour are also not excluded.

In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the thunderstorms from the west may affect further regions. The weather service expects heavy rain, hail, and severe gusts of wind up to orkan-strength with up to 110 kilometers per hour.

In the alpine foothills of Bavaria, the weather forecast indicates a higher risk of thunderstorms, similar to previous expectations from the DWD. Munich, the Bavarian capital, might also experience these unfavorable weather conditions, including lightning risk and potential hailstorms. During this period, the German Weather Service continues to monitor the situation closely, providing regular updates and warnings to the public.
