First, he enters the apartment door of his ex-Girlfriend in Hermannsburg, a town in the Lüneburg Heath, in the Landkreis Celle. He briefly pats their four-month-old daughter on the carpet before leaving. The woman calls the police, but the 37-year-old man from the Landkreis Celle ends the call and murders her with his cutter. For the crime, the defendant is sentenced to life imprisonment without parole by the Lüneburg Regional Court, according to the court spokesperson.

The defense argued for manslaughter during the second day of the trial based on the man's confession. His ex-girlfriend had allegedly kicked him upon entering the apartment in Hermannsburg. The chamber did not believe this, instead relying on the testimony of their eleven-year-old son. He had heard the clicking sound of the knife during the attack in January and had fled.

With the consent of all parties involved, the son's video testimony in court was allowed, sparing him a statement in the courtroom. The prosecution also claimed that he had fatally wounded her with other knives from the kitchen of the victim. The judgment is not yet legally binding.

  5. Upon hearing the verdict, the defendant's lawyer initially stated plans for an appeal, arguing that the punishment was too severe, given the defendant's prior lack of a criminal record in Mord cases.
