Prosecution requests life imprisonment for the 30-year-old driver of the getaway car in a case involving a bank machine explosion that resulted in a death following an accident. Charges include murder.

The man is accused of causing the accident while attempting to evade police, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old innocent man. Prior to the accident, he and two other men allegedly bombed a bank machine in Wiernsheim near Pforzheim. The defense argued for manslaughter without specifying a sentence at the Karlsruhe Regional Court.

The prosecution demanded four years and ten months in prison for one of the two other men, aged 21, and four years and eight months for the other, aged 22. Their defense teams had requested three years each. The court will render its judgment on Friday.

Ghost ride on the A6

The prosecution accuses the three suspected robbers of involvement in the bank machine explosion and aggravated burglary, as well as murder against the 30-year-old, who caused the accident following the bank robbery with high speed. Subsequently, he allegedly drove as a "ghost driver" on the A6, where he collided with a truck. The passenger in the truck was seriously injured and later died several days later.

The three defendants have been in investigative detention since November. They all hold Dutch citizenship. The police found over 41,000 Euros in cash from the bank machine explosion in Wiernsheim, as well as explosives in the getaway car. The damage to the building was approximately 250,000 Euros.
