Leaders Putin and Kim deepen their camaraderie.

In the wake of Russia's attack on Ukraine, Putin's international pals have dwindled, but Kim Jong Un remains one of his steadfast companions. Their bond was further fortified during a rendezvous in Pyongyang.

At this encounter, Putin declared the conclusion of a brand-new "cornerstone agreement" between Russia and North Korea, as reported by Russian news outlets in North Korea. Putin stated, "Today, we've got a fresh cornerstone agreement in our hands, which will serve as the bedrock for our long-term relations." According to Putin, Russia and North Korea have significantly enhanced their bilateral ties.

Notably, Putin, according to Russian news outlets, extended an invitation to Kim Jong Un for a trip to Moscow. "It's a pleasure to see you again," Putin said, having previously received Kim twice in Russia's Far East, most recently in September and before that in April 2019. "I sincerely hope that our next encounter will occur in Russia, in Moscow," he reiterated.

Putin touched down in North Korea on Tuesday evening. Upon arrival, Kim greeted Putin at the airport. The two secluded leaders of the world, Putin and Kim, engaged in a warm embrace on the red carpet, signifying the growing closeness between their nations. This was Putin's second visit to the nation during his tenure as the head of state.

As their official meeting commenced, Putin and Kim attended a ceremony on Pyongyang's Kim Il-Sung Square. As photos released by the Kremlin indicated, the square was adorned with substantial portraits of the two men. Throngs of North Korean capital residents, including many kids, enthusiastically cheered Putin and Kim to the rhythm of a military orchestra, showering them with flowers and balloons.
