The Federation of German Consumer Organizations (VZBV) wants to take legal action against the streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

Lawsuit filed over Amazon Prime membership.

Many households in Germany have joined a massive legal battle against Amazon, related to their streaming service Prime Video. Over 18,000 individuals have signed up to the lawsuit registry; the Consumer Center Saxony reported this news on May 23rd. If you had an Amazon Prime subscription before February 5th and paid for it, you're eligible to join in.

Amazon Prime presented their customers with a choice - either viewads during your streaming, or pay an extra almost three euros a month for an ad-free experience. According to the Consumer Center Saxony, these alterations can only occur with the explicit agreement of clients. Consequently, they're taking Amazon to court.

"Companies like Amazon are not invulnerable. Although combating such a prominent company requires a considerable amount of resources: We're determined, and unequivocally express our opposition to these practices," stated Andreas Eichhorst, the managing director of the Consumer Center Saxony.

To join this lawsuit, simply sign up at the Federal Office of Justice. Should you need guidance, the Consumer Center Saxony is ready to help. Amazon has responded to these accusations early this year, claiming they've adhered to all legal necessities.
