Lawrow accuses USA of violence in Middle East and Ukraine
**Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the US of being directly involved in the conflicts in Ukraine and Palestinian territories during a UN Security Council session. "By providing diplomatic protection to Israel and supplying it with weapons and ammunition, Washington has become a party to the conflict, just as in Ukraine," Lavrov reportedly told Russian agencies in New York.
Furthermore, he stated that the end of US support would lead to the cessation of bloodshed in both cases. The unprecedented wave of violence in the Middle East is a result of US policy in the region, claimed the Russian chief diplomat, whose government itself initiated the attack on Ukraine.
Russia, which currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council, scheduled a special session for Wednesday to address the precarious situation in the Gaza Strip. The war broke out after terrorists from the Islamic Hamas and other extremist groups attacked Southern Israel on October 7, killing over 1,200 people and taking an additional 250 hostages in the Gaza Strip.
According to unverifiable Palestinian reports, tens of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict. Over 120 hostages are still suspected to be held captive in the besieged coastal enclave, many of whom may no longer be alive.
Lavrov now demands a complete ceasefire and the initiation of negotiations for the establishment of a Palestinian state. The risk of neighboring countries of Israel getting involved in the conflict increases with further fighting, warned the 74-year-old. Moscow, which has criticized Washington's role in the conflict since its escalation, sees itself as a mediator as Russia maintains good relations with both Arab states and Israel.
