In the city of Recklinghausen, a suspect believed to be wielding a knife met his end at the hands of the authorities during a dramatic standoff. Preliminary information indicated that a 33-year-old individual was creating a ruckus in a residential building at night, as per the reports from the Dortmund law enforcement. "It's been reported that he was carrying a knife," shared eyewitnesses. Upon arrival, the officers found themselves in a precarious situation. "This led to the 33-year-old being confronted with lethal force." His injuries proved fatal.

A representative from the Dortmund police department noted that they couldn't yet confirm the identity of the officers involved and those who discharged their weapons. The Dortmund Homicide Squad stepped in to handle the investigation due to impartiality concerns.

Not so long ago, another suspect, possibly armed with knives, was taken down by police gunfire in Moers, situated along the Lower Rhine.

The investigation into the incident in Moers revealed that the suspect was indeed wielding knives when he was apprehended using firearms by the police. Subsequently, in a separate incident, there were calls for the city of Recklinghausen to scrutinize the use of firearms by authorities following the fatal encounter with the suspect who had a knife.
