Following the lethal encounter with an assailant armed with a knife, as reported by the law enforcement, in Munich, the Bavarian State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is conducting an investigation. The primary objective is to assess, in conjunction with the prosecutor's office, the lawfulness of employing firearms, confirmed a representative from the CID. This is typical protocol in scenarios of such nature.

The assailant, allegedly a woman, is claimed to have assaulted the law enforcement officials with a knife within a supermarket situated in the Sendling area on Monday. According to police accounts, their firearms were then deployed. However, there's yet to emerge clarity on who initiated the gunfire and the number of rounds discharged. These aspects are currently under investigation, as the spokesperson revealed.

Originally, there was no dissemination of the deceased individual's identity.

The Bavarian State Criminal Investigation Department is working closely with The Office of the Prosecutor to evaluate the legality of using firearms in the incident. Upon completion of their investigation, The Office of the Prosecutor will decide whether any charges should be pressed against the involved law enforcement officers.
